Service With Honour

Posted by Andrew Wood in Corgi, Diecast models, Trucks

Sticking with the truck theme here is another one from Corgi's Superhaulers range. It's another Scania this time a curtainsider operated by Knights of Old. I can see from my many likes every day that most of them are from outside the UK and these readers may think that there is a haulage firm in England run by blokes in armour sitting on horses. It is actually a company started by William Knight in the village of Old, Northamptonshire back in 1865.

How do you say Norbert Dentressangle?

Posted by Andrew Wood in Corgi, Diecast models, Trucks

One of the most often seen liveries on British motorways is Norbert Dentressangle, the enormous French haulier no-one in the UK can pronounce properly.

This is a Corgi Scania R Cab food products tanker in 1:64 scale and typically of the Superhaulers range is very presentable and displayable. You can own this one for £11.99 from the Little Wheels on line shop: http://little-wheels.net/products/23258

Rutland Indepenence Campaign

Posted by Andrew Wood in Corgi, Diecast models, Trucks

This is such a good looking truck, very nicely finished. It is an ERF EC Curtainsider in the livery of CS Ellis of Oakham in Rutland, England's smallest county, which has struggled over the years to remain a separate county and not be absorbed into Leicestershire.

I love the idea of a campaign for its independence.

Corgi 1:64 Scale Trucks

Posted by Andrew Wood in Corgi, Diecast models, Trucks

Corgi has been making a very good series of truck models for many years now. This one comes from the excellent Superhaulers range in 1:64 scale which present liveries which are very familiar to us from Britain's motorways.

It is one of 20 or so which are being added to the Little wheels shop over the next week or so. You can own it for £10.99 by following this link: http://little-wheels.net/products/23260

Featured item - Corgi Trucks; Seddon Atkinson; 8 Wheel Rigid Cylindrical Tanker, Mackeson

Posted by Andrew Wood in Corgi, Trucks

Isn't this a fine truck? Full of beer too - although I don't know if anyone drinks Mackeson any more, I Googled it and according to Wikipedia it is still made, but I've not seen it anywhere for years. I remember it as a sort of weaker sweet tasting Guinness type beer, once recommended for pregnant women - how times change..
No matter, this lovely old Atkinson is available in the Little Wheels on-line shop for £17.99 with free UK shipping and £5.45 to ship it anywhere else in the world. http://little-wheels.net//products/19793
