Corgi 1:64 Scale Trucks

Posted by Andrew Wood in Corgi, Diecast models, Trucks

Corgi has been making a very good series of truck models for many years now. This one comes from the excellent Superhaulers range in 1:64 scale which present liveries which are very familiar to us from Britain's motorways.

It is one of 20 or so which are being added to the Little wheels shop over the next week or so. You can own it for £10.99 by following this link: http://little-wheels.net/products/23260

Lovely old Greyhound Bus

Posted by Andrew Wood in Bus, Coach, Corgi, Diecast models

This is a model of a Greyhound Bus from the USA. It's made by Corgi and is a Yellow Coach 743 built in the 1930s exclusively for Greyhound Lines.

These old US buses & coaches are very stylish and iconic, Corgi made a fair range of them back in the 1990s, this one was produced in 1994 in 1:50 scale. I've two versions of this in the shop just now and another two on eBay.

This one can be yours for £14.99 if you follow this link: http://little-wheels.net/products/23073

Yesteryears from the 90s

Posted by Andrew Wood

If you look down at my previous posts you'll see that I really have a soft spot for Matchbox Models of Yesteryear and there is a short purple period of production in the early Nineties that is well worth searching out. They took some of the old castings, like this 1937 Mercedes, which had been around since the 70s and added really good detail like number plates, painted detailing like pinstripes and coloured lamp lenses, and in this case a wood-effect steering wheel. They were packaged in nice acetate boxes and really look the business.

This Mercedes and a Stutz Bearcat are both new to the Little Wheels shop today for £8.99 and £7.99 respectively, bargains.

More Dinky Collection from Matchbox: Citroen 15cv Traction Avant

Posted by Andrew Wood

This car is from the same range as yesterday's Studebaker.  Called the Dinky Collection by Matchbox it was on sale from 1988 to about 1992 as a competitor for the Vanguards range. I recently bought a superb collection of them, 50 cars or so, and they are working their way through the Little Wheels Shop. You'll find them under Dinky Toys in the Model Makers menu.

This is the 15cv Citroen Traction Avant (front wheel drive) that was made from the mid 30s to the mid 50s being replaced by the equally iconic DS. There are a number of diecasts of this car by different makers and this one I think is the best, looking its best too in cream. You can own this car for £10.99, please follow this link: http://little-wheels.net/products/22829

Studebaker Golden Hawk: The Dinky Collection by Matchbox

Posted by Andrew Wood

The American Studebaker Golden Hawk from 1956 was such a stylish car and so different to the Fords & GM cars available at the time, its influence stretched right across the Atlantic to the UK.

Rootes Group were heavily influenced by it in the styling of their Audax family of cars - the Hillman Minxes, Sunbeam Rapiers and Humber Sceptres of the early 60s have several design cues from this car, the central square grille with the small grilles to the sides, the line of the front wings and the wrap around rear window with the reverse slope on the C pillar all reflect the American car.

You can own this immaculate car, made around 1990, in its very good box for £11.99 at the Little Wheels on line shop: http://little-wheels.net/products/22833
